Primary brain tumors are defined as any tumor arising from the brain, associated organs, or their linings. Examples of such tumors include the following

Glioblastoma multiforme
Low grade astrocytoma
Anaplastic Astrocytoma
Oligodendroglioma (low grade and anaplastic)
Meningioma (typical, atypical, and malignant)
Primary central nervous system lymphoma
Pituitary adenoma
Nerve sheath tumors (low grade and malignant)
Germ cell tumors
Primitive neurectodermal tumors
Sarcomas
Tumors of nerve cell origin
